I've used this on a reasonably old laptop/netbook device which doesn't natively support the more recent Wi-Fi standard and it's made a massive difference to the quality of the connection I'm getting, and the speeds I'm seeing when running tests. It installed without any trouble and I didn't have to go hunting for a driver etc. Working as it should, doesn't get too warm, no issues installing, so I would recommend this product. I am running a four year old Dell desktop with an 11th Gen i7 processor and 16GB of ram. We have recently switched up to a faster broadband contract and the installation included a new Wi-Fi 6 router. I ordered this to see if upgrading my desktop's Wi-Fi adapter would bring any benefits.I did not have any issues installing this USB adapter. For me is was literally plug and play. I have several spare USB sockets but chose to use the fastest available on the front of the desktop. This way the adapter has the best 'line of sight' to the router.I have noticed that the Wi-Fi is faster and more stable than before. I was quite happy with the built in set up but this adapter is definitely an improvement.Although, I have not had any issues with installing my adapter, the Bostrend website has useful support information, should you need it. There are reasons why this unit may not automatically load the driver but they would be too dependent on individual setups to enumerate here. Sufficient to say any issues can probably be overcome if you talk to the right person or access the right video. I have a tame network installation expert on tap but as I said I did not need their help.This for me is a useful Wi-Fi 6 adapter that is reasonably priced and is working very well. I have not bothered to disconnect or remove the built in adapter because it may come in handy when I chose to pass my desktop on and upgrade again. For me it was simple to install and problem free and that is just how I like it. Useful tech that does its job. If you are looking for one of these adapters for an older Windows set up then this is a good buy. Mac and Linux are not supported and for optimal results you need a Wi-Fi 6 router. It will work with a non-Wi-Fi 6 router but you may not see the full benefits.

This compact WiFi dongle is a great option for anyone who is sporting a laptop that is a bit older and only internally equipped with older WiFi tech. We have one such laptop that tops out at WiFi 5 (ac) and whilst it has been a solid performer, it is not able to glean the various benefits that the WiFi 6 (ax) standard can achieve - from speed to power efficiency, latency and security. As such, popping in this relative unobtrusive dongle can give an older-but-perfectly-serviceable laptop a spring in its step if youve already taken the leap of upgrading your home WiFi network to a newer standard - such as with a modern mesh networking solution or a WiFi router that is broadcasting the WiFi 6 (or newer) standard.As this is a compact dongle with no additional antenna it is not going to offer much in the way of range a range boost, so I wouldnt necessarily get it for that reason. In my case the WiFi coverage was not the factor I was looking to improve upon.The item comes suitably packaged and there isnt really much else to report. It seems to work out-the-box and thats about it.

Installation was straightforward as the driver is included on the dongle. After set up the laptop needs to have the on board wifi disabled for easiest use.Performance seems OK, though the laptop isn't cable of high speed.
